Professor Charles Sheppard, chairman of the Chagos Conservation Trust, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2014 for services to environmental conservation in the British Indian Ocean Territory.

This is thoroughly deserved recognition for almost 40 years of work in research and conservation in the Chagos Archipelago. Charles’ first visits to the territory were in the mid-1970s with his most recent trip being earlier this year.

Congratulations Charles!
